In Idaho, during jeremy's last year of school, I became a PSR worker (info on that in another post) which caused me to drive a ton, picking up clients, dropping them off, attend lots of meetings and travel between towns. I was putting on hundreds of miles per week with our new jeep- which was guzzling all the gas it could, so Jer decided to find a cheapo, but reliable vehicle that I could use.
Meet Happy.
A 1984 Toyota pick up truck that used to be a farmers.
I quickly learned to drive stick and became attached to this truck.
There are lots of reasons we have this, to name a few:
1. it doesn't really lock, but that's ok because we always forget to lock stuff anyway
2. The color is so ugly that no one else would want it or see it's value because of it's external appearance.
3. You always need a truck, It's helped us move, go on fun trips with kayaks, surf boards or wind surf gear, we have camped in it on the beach and of coarse, it's great for the drive-in.
4. Barely uses any gas $$$$
5. Has not radio or fancy speakers, so those can't get stolen, meaning no broken windows
6. It has no AC, and in the Bakersfield summer, causes you to sweat beads as soon as you get in, which means losing LBS- heck yeah!!!
I hope this truck lasts another 30 years so our kids can drive it one day. So when you see me (A white girl in her 20's- not a Mexican/Old man/Farmer) driving down the road, all dressed up with my lipstick on, rocking my 30 year-old truck- Don't judge me, because it's awesome.
