Grand Canyon, Arizona
The Grand Canyon is pretty self explanatory... its a really GranD (BIG) Canyon (HOLE IN THE GROUND)
It is breathtaking, and beautiful at ANY TIME of the day, EVERYDAY. There are lots of hikes, museums and places to Camp.. I would have loved to go deeper and explore it a little more.
This was me as a wee Las at 19, seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time!
This is all I'll say:
1. If you are camping, remember to bring your WARMEST clothes. Even though its 100 degrees during the day, it will drop to 30 degrees in the night, and you will freeze your buns off/have a terrible night sleep. This was yet another occasion I have been so grateful for my super-out-doorsy-husband, who heated up rocks in the fire, dug a hole beneath where I slept and buried them there to try and keep me warm in the night!
2. If you are going to be hiking around bring SO MUCH WATER.. yes it's kind of a pain, but you need LOTS because it's so hot.
..that goes for the rest of Arizona. I had visited there twice before and we lived there over 2 summers in Avondale (NW of Phoenix). We loved AZ, it's great- just hot, but you can get over that to enjoy the 7 months of amazing "winter" weather :) ..if you stick around long enough!
We had lots of fun there, going to the Temple, eating frozen yogurt, floating the river, going on walks and to the dog park, going to football games, and baseball games, swimming, going to Dave and Busters Arcade (half off on wednesday nights) and having fun double dates with our good friends there. I will always love AZ!
