Banff holds a special place in my heart, because that's where Jer and I went on our honeymoon. There are many wonderful things to do there in the summer time, and I will talk about winter too.
First on my bucket list:
For when I go back, I'll need to see/hike/Kayak:
Banff National Park (CHECK)
Sulphur Mountain
Lane Minnewanka
Mt. Norquay (skiing)
Cave and Basin national historic site
Bow falls (CHECK)
Tunnel Mountain
Whyte Museum (Canadian Rockies)
Vermilion Lakes
Banff Park Museum
Mt. Rundle
Cascade mountain
Mount Louis (CHECK)
Johnson Lake
Spray River
Stoney Squaw mountain
Banff Upper Hot Springs (CHECK)
A little more on Mount Louis, which also holds Lake Louis and many other beautiful glacier lakes
Look at that clear blue water!
Then you start to hike, up and up and you pass more lakes within the mountain, it's amazing
You can stop and turn around at any point, or you can go up the whole mountain!
About half way up, there is another lake and waterfall and a Tea house, where you can have sandwiches, soup, scones and tea! (right up my alley)
Check out the Banff Hotel, it is beautiful there and really old!
you can explore the rooms and hallways.
On the way back into town, check out this beautiful garden. It is so well kept and has many hidden things to find and look at.
In the winter, you can ice-skate right on the Lake!
Go snowboarding/skiing
And last, but not least, walk around main street and window shop around :)
