WALK DOWN THE ARCADES GUARDED BY BEADLES.
Back in the day, and still to this day, the Beadels where put there as guards to make sure no one opened an umbrella, pushed prams, whistled or sings among some rules. Great history here- Ladies were always escorted by gentlemen. On top of these stores (the arcades) there used to be prostitutes and the men would buy some gloves or some sort of gift to give the prostitute as payment for their "time spent", then the girls would return their 'gift' to make their money. Interesting.
