This is the story about how my Dog Belle became a member of my family.
When Jer and I had been married for about 3 weeks, we decided that we wanted to get a dog. I worked from the Morning-Afternoon, and He worked from the Afternoon- Evening. This meant that one of us was always home and by ourselves... I was SO LONELY! Jer decided a dog would be our perfect solution, and I thought I'd give it a try-I'd never had a dog before or any other animal in fact... besides my frogs (Trevor, Nelson and Fresca) but that's another story. Besides, if I could keep an animal alive, perhaps I could practice being a good future mother. We went down to the Scottsdale, AZ Petsmart kennels, looking for a German Shepard breed dog. That's where we first found Belle, with her 3 sisters. I was quick to choose her- Who could resist a 3 week old pup with those ears????
Plus, she was on sale for $17.00. She came with a free bag of food and a collar, all her shots and Spayed. SWEET deal. We could not agree on a name for her- I wanted to name her Puzzle, or Xena or Dolly- Jer couldn't agree and we finally settled on Belle- My favorite Disney Princess, because she is smart loyal, selfless and not shallow- everything you would want in a dog as well of coarse.
This is our family!!! She took a lot of work to potty train and earn our trust, and also grow out of her naughty puppy phase, but she is definitely the best $17.00 investment we have ever made. People spend thousands of dollars on pure bread dogs who almost always come with problems- don't get me wrong, they are beautiful... I just don't have thousands of dollars to spend on an animal, and thus, Belle is perfect for us.
She comes everywhere with us, like she were our child, except she enjoys waiting in the car for me when I run errands!
She is loyal, obedient and so much fun!
Gives the best cuddles
She loves Dairy Queen ice-cream cones, belly scratches, stuffed animals, carrots, Cheerios, Peanut butter balls and other dogs....And is just dang cute!
So maybe now you think I'm this crazy dog person, but if you were to meet Belle, you would love her too!
