My story of Disneyland may not be like most and I will tell you why.
First of all, we went with these yahoo's, our friends Emerson and Michelle Go-
they had friends who were interning there that got us in for free (park hopper) and also free parking and a free popcorn!! This automatically saved us hundreds of dollars!
So we were told to see California adventure first, because Disneyland is just CRAZY CROWDED first thing during the day. California Adventure was amazing!
We rode Cars, Soaring California and the Tower of Terror, and then we saw the mini Broadway Aladin show which was lots of fun.
I would definitely recommend you go on the cars ride!
Then, we headed over into Disneyland to feel the magic, got some fast passes and tried to schedule in all the rides.
When we went in, we first went to get some lunch. $7.50 for a slice of pizza did not seem very magical. The crowds of people were absolutely crazy- that didn't seem very magical either.
So, we go over to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride-it's closed. We go to splash mountain- it's closed. We go to Indiana Jones- it's closed... we go to the other side of the park to ride Thunder Mountain- I kid you not- it was closed! We end up at the Matterhorn, but the whole of DisneyLand is in this line and there was no fast pass option.
Let me tell you- at this point, I was tired of the crowds and lines, hungry, sick of walking around, and not feeling any magic at all. So we decide to try and get a picture with a Disney Character... There are LINES for this too!!! WHATT???? Ok, I'm sorry, but i am not waiting in line for an hour to take my picture with Daisy Duck. Luckily we had met 1 character in California Adventure... I don't know what his name is, but he's from the Incredibles and we remembered him as the guy who says:
"Woman, where's my super-suit?!!"
So pretty much, I have felt no Disneyland magic and at this point, was praying for some Mercy and that our day would pick up.
And it finally did! Things started opening up!
We went to Space Mountain
Matterhorn
PeterPan
Splash Mountain
(you should ask Jer to tell you the story of wetting his pants as a boy on this ride, while saving his Mighty Ducks hat)
StarTours (prepare for motion sickness-but awesome)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Indiana Jones (awesome)
Haunted Mansion (amazing)
We saw the Parade-totally squeezed my way to the front for this one
(this is when I really felt the Magic)
We went at christmas time, so the decor and everything was awesome.
I LOVED seeing the princes and princesses!
The Fire work show was really spectacular and I am so glad we saw it.
We continued to squeeze rides in, all the way up until midnight to get the most bang for our buck (meaning the money we spent on lunch)
All in all, this really is a magical place- the rides are like no other. Earlier that week I had gotten to go to Six Flags-Magic Mountain, and Sea world- what a birthday week right??. Disneyland rides are definitely different than most- there is so much to see- your senses get overwhelmed for sure. I hope to go back soon-California really has it all!
