As Ivy sits here on my lab while I type and load pictures of her and our adventures, I realize SHOOT, I forgot her doctors appointment today. Literally, I just looked at the clock. I have been sick this week and trying like hell not to kiss her on the face and spread my germs. I've been doing so well to keep her away from sick people...now I am the sick people. TBT:
I had lunch with my old Norris work mates, it made me miss work... and getting ready for the day with the purpose of leaving the house. I've also decided to stop crying about not fitting in my pre-pregnancy clothes and just going out and buying fat clothes. It's hard not to compare myself to some of my friends who bounce back super quickly after pregnancies and act like they didn't just push a bowling ball out of their vaginas like it was "no big deal at all". I've decided that every woman who just had a baby and walks around town in her heels, whipping out her nursing cover and acting like breast feeding is just a beautiful-bonding-n0-big-deal-type-of-thing is a LIAR! liar, liar, pants on fire. I mean it is beautiful and bonding but it's not no big deal. Especially in public, it's hard!
I miss milk, and ice cream.
I cut it out of my diet because it wasn't sitting well with Ivy, and she's all "hands in my pocket no big deal" about it. I really don't mind though. She is worth it. She's worth everything.
I mean come on. seriously.
She is happiest when she wakes up in the morning. She makes the sweetest sounds and gives smiles for days. Pretty much anything she does is adorable.
Her new born outfit wearing days are numbered and she's tall enough for size 0-3 months clothes now. I love it!
I prop her on the couch like this when I play the piano. She just chills and listens to me like I'm playing smooth jazz. (But let's get real, my piano playing is far from smooth jazz sounding.)
It's hard to get a picture of her without a blurry hand in there!
I mean come on, this makes my heart melt like hot caramel over an apple.
I've been trying to slowly get back into the swing of a work-out routine... this is me eating toast after I ran/walked 2 miles at 8 weeks post partum. Very glamorous, I know.
Here are Ivy's noise cancelling head phones for when we went shooting.
She didn't like them so much.
She also didn't like her 8 weeks old church outfit haha
She still sleeps like an angel... almost always with her mouth open, just like her dad.
some more morning smiles, you're welcome.
blurry hands, busy body, my mini me.
That little mouth is always cracked open when she sleeps... still...JUST like her dad! Got that?
I know I take a lot of pictures and they all look the same-ish, but I love them all and all her little facial expressions. Making her smile is our favorite thing to do!
I've been feeling yucky and fat and ugly and frumpy and no clothes fit me or look nice, even the fat ones I bought, so I got my hair done for a boost! I've never been this blonde, I quite like it.
Mom, quit taking so many pictures of me!
Ivy's two month photo shoot!
Okay, again, they all look the same... but not really.
I LOVE this little nugget of mine!
how can you not, she is the sweetest thing!
Check out Ivy's bald line. She loves to turn her head side to side when she lies down. It's almost like she's a little bear cub and is scratching her head using her blanket!
This book as been a total sleep saver! I'm so glad I read it. I can now recognize Ivy's sleep signs and time when she is going to be tired. It's helped her form such a good relationship with sleep which helps her to be such a happy baby. It's called the NAPS plan:
N-Note the time of your babies last waking
A- Add 90 minutes
P- Play and pursue other activities with your baby
S- Soothe your baby to sleep
It works like a charm!
Ivy seems to like to be asleep and also likes to be awake. It's great!
A short note on hitting the mom life and nursing baby Ivy. She continues to be a good eater and I'm producing a lot of good milk which I'm thrilled about. I now almost always have spit up on my shirt shoulder->
I sometimes wake up with leaky milk running down my shirt- especially if I've forgotten my boob pad somewhere- I take it out of my bra to nurse then forget it and leave it somewhere. Jeremy is always finding them and picking them up after i've left them in booths of restaurants etc. haha whoops!
I get ravenously hungry and thirsty while nursing, but at the same time, people said "the weight will just fall off as you nurse"- they lied. Just as I was getting better about exercising again, I got terribly sick with tonsillitis, the flu, and now a cold that won't seem to go away. Hopefully as I feel better I can get back to it and get fit again.
Thursday Feb 26, 2017
We drove down to Universal Studios and had the best day!
Baby Ivy did so well. We just kept her schedule going and she did well in her car seat and pram.
She also wore her going out shoes.
stop it right now it's too cute!
Mattie, Matthias and Merilyn met us at the lower lot after we had ridden the transformers and Jurassic park- awesome rides which we rode again with the kids while Mer held the baby- sweet deal!
We also rode the Mummy and then headed back to the Upper Lot.
Entering HOGSMEAD!!!!
LOVED every minute of Harry Potter world! So much detail- even Moaning Murtle was in the bathroom!
The castle was marvelous, we loved all the details put into it.
I especially enjoyed the talking paintings. The ride is fantastic (I've now ridden it three times!)
There is a small rollercoaster outside that goes past BuckBeak and Hagrid's house. It was all great!
Of coarse we got a chocolate frog at Zonkos, Honey Dukes, saw the Owl post and Olivanders.
(And yes, Sometimes I'd be walking and feeding Ivy at the same time!)
We went to ____ for some yummy food and, of coarse, butterbeer!
This is us on the Universal Tour ride. It lasts almost an hour. I fed Ivy on this bumpy ride and it was no joke haha. My favorite part was seeing Wisteria Lane from Desperate housewives!!
Ivy loves hanging with her aunt Mattie!
A delicious Crepe to end the day and keep driving down to a fabulous condo in Oceanside to keep playing!
One thing: Puzzles.
I LOVE them! So addicting!
Taking a lovely walk on the beach... but not so lovely for Mattie haha Poor girl, Jer is constantly terrorizing his little sister!
Mattie Mobe wrapped up to carry Ivy on the way back to the condo after we had a good lunch at Rubies at the end of the pier. Mobe wrapping is a very serious business.
Ivy enjoys a California sunset with me!
Breaking out of the swaddle. I love it!
Here's the thing with Jer's family- They like to play and be busy making memories...
which means, as soon as I do my hair, I tie it up and go boogie boarding.
I may as well just not get ready!
Jer continues to be an awesome dad. Always helping and getting his baby snuggles in.
Ivy loves her dad!
On Monday after eating a good breakfast at Honey's in Encinitas, we went to the San Diego Zoo!
Seeing this Polar bear play was definitely a highlight!
It was a great time, but I was so tired from being sick still... being sick on Vacation is no fun, plus Ivy got a cold from me and had a runny nose and cough, which she still has, it's so sad!
This was actually on Sunday, we went down to San Diego and climbed around on the rocks at Sunset caves. I touched Sea Slug!
Jer wore the Mobe wrap and it never looked so good!
Lovin' on her Aunt Mattie again!
It completely melts my heart to see how much others love Ivy too, It makes me so happy! Mattie is especially great with her and Ivy can tell how much Mattie loves her.
Ivy is sleeping so well these days (even when she is sick.) The 90 minute NAPS plan is going great.
She goes to bed around 10 PM, I sleep feed her once in the night or early morning- usually around 6 am these days and then she keeps sleeping for a few more hours. When she wakes in the morning- around 8AM, she's awake for her 90 minutes and then, like clockwork, she takes her morning nap. She snoozes well during the day, she loves to be held, but can self soothe quite well on her own for being so young. She is happy when she's awake and eats every 2-3 hours during the day. We are SOOOOO lucky to have such a great baby.
Also getting lots of Grandma Mer time in!
We played lots of card games and I actually stayed King in SCUM for longer than ever in my whole life!!! And believe me, I lived it up lol
Our last night on the beach on Tuesday night.
On our way back on Wednesday Feb 1, Jer and Ivy and I stopped in to Universal one more time. We saw the Special effects and animal actors shows, went to Harry Potter World again and to the Walking Dead "walk through experience" it was terrifying!
Ivy is growing so well. She is still skinny, but she is long. Her Newborn size onesies are too short for her. I'm in denial.
We took a few days to recover from being so sick and vacationing and then went to Hart Park which is beautiful and green this time of the year. I ran around the pond with Ivy while Jer and Belle mountain biked, and when they were done we switched. A perfect Saturday morning!
We count our blessings every day!
