Believe

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure & wearing lipstick. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything else seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe tomorrow is another day. I believe in Miracles.

What teachers wear?

When I was younger, I dreamed of having a grown up job where I needed a special key to get into my place of work, where people would move out of the way for me when I walked down the halls (haha), and where I would be able to dress up and wear heels... well by George, I got it!

BTW wearing heels (or even flats) to work as a teacher is no small feat. At first, when I came home from work saying that my feet hurt because I'd been on them all day, Jeremy would say "Don't you just sit at your desk all day?" (insert one emoji slapping another emoji. No, Just kidding- but seriously!?) The answer is NO, I maybe sit down at my desk if I'm grading, taking attendance or shoving food down quickly! Realistically; I am standing addressing my class, walking around helping students, setting up labs, posting grades, giving kids high fives, cleaning up spills, running to the copy room, stopping by the front office to pick up notices and handouts and homeroom things etc. etc. (and I LOVE it!)

Seriously, I LOVE my job! I am on the other side where it is greener! Yes, It is exhausting and time consuming and ridiculous at times, but it is also rewarding and super fun. No one ever told me that teachers don't only prepare lessons, teach the lessons, prepare activities, labs, homework assignments and tests, and then grade the work- THEY ALSO attend staff meetings, department meetings, IEP meetings, 504 meetings, professional development meetings, parent-teacher meetings, call home when kids are good or bad, receive and reply to at least 10 emails a day, adjust lesson plans when you find out there are rally's or assemblies, post grades, prepare report cards, help kids catch up absent work or prepare work for them when they are going to be away from school. Deal with nose bleeds, headaches, tummy cramps, cuts and bruises after lunch, bullies, and any kid not feeling well. I am also completing my credential and am taking BITSA classes once a week + assignments, and as a first year am being observed in the classroom from time to time. And AT THE SAME TIME loving all 180 of my kids, making each of them feel confident and smart, teaching them to be problem solvers and good little people and wanting them to be successful individuals. I said it was exhausting, right?

Here is that one time I put my feet up on the nasty couch in the teachers lounge haha

Or staying up late into the night preparing tomorrow's lesson!

I also said I LOVE it!

I love going to work, I love being at work, I love teaching kids about Science, and life!

I love seeing them learn, and retain that knowledge!

I love seeing them grow into good human beings.

I love hearing their stories and getting to know them as individuals. It is the best!

That being said... when I wake up looking like this in the morning...Some major damage control is needed!

So, here are a few pics of how I clean up and what I wear :)

 (we get casual days too!)

(at this point I am annoyed with how many selfies I have taken!)

This is the outfit I interviewed in

One kid said to me "Mrs. Warner, are you wearing a trash bag as a skirt?" haha

haha a lot of pictures of me standing by my classroom trash can am I right!?

There you have it!
I'm ending off with a picture of my favorite teaching day, where two students knocked on my door in the morning; 1 with a Smith's cookie for me, the other with an apple for me. They both told me I am their favorite and to have a good day! (heart=melting).
#ihavethebestjobintheworld!
ALWAYS SMILING!
(Until someone brings out the Dragon Mrs. Warner in me... then I am blowing smoke!)
