Believe

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure & wearing lipstick. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything else seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe tomorrow is another day. I believe in Miracles.

Spring Surprises

February 8
Life is good!
We've been enjoying "the motions" of life and I've liked filling my weeks with exercise, bike rides, book club, high fitness, activities, bunco, friends and play dates. Spending every day with Ivy is an absolute blessing.

Here is Julia and me and the kids on our Thursday bike ride, Bikes and babes!

My blankie and paci girl!

They don't call it "Childs pose" for nothing!

It's not only Valentines day, It's also Granny Norma's birthday! She's so cute!

I must say though, Jeremy outdid himself this valentines day!
He surprised me with Patio furniture, steak, and car seat covers <3
Pictured below is a little Zoo trip with friends.
My big girl!!
Just playing around...

I made Valentine rose pizzas for dinner!

March 3, we have been enjoying the beautiful Spring weather and our patio furniture!

A girl after her popcorn loving aunt Matties heart!

Outside and inside!
Aaaaaaaand then the biggest surprise of all.....
I'm pregnant!!!

March 5, 2018
Was my first appointment, measuring 6 weeks and 6 days.
We weren't necessarily trying, and I mostly had in my head that I would be happy if Ivy was my only child, but when I was late and also didn't have any signs of cramps etc. I thought something might be up. Trying not to get my hopes up, I included a pregnancy test in my grocery pick up the next day. While unpacking I saw the test and was anxious to take it... but I didn't have to pee!!!! haha after drinking a litre of water, I took the test. After waiting 3 minutes, I returned to see the faintest line indicating that I was, in fact, pregnant. I did a little freak out dance by myself in my room and then drank more water so I could double check!!! Sure enough, these lines were clear as day!
I kept trying to meet up with Jer to tell him the good news but he had a super busy day and only got home at 6pm. LONGEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
Once I told him, we called our parents and siblings and shared the happy news.
Now Jer calls me fertile Mertile! haha

Ivy seems so small to be a big sister, but she amazes me every day with all the things she is picking up on and continues to be my sweet girl.

March 9
Just some regular, every day stuff!

So I'm like 8 weeks pregnant here and my tummy decided to just POP.
I weigh the same but can feel that things have started moving around.
I can't hide this for very long!
I have also become insanely SICK, nooooooooo!!!!
Like WAY more sick than I ever was with Ivy. Every food aversion has come my way, nothing ever sounds good to eat. I'm exhausted, fatigued, bloated and feel like I have constant motion sickness if I move. The morning sickness is all day sickness and is worse in the evenings.

March 11, Grandma comes to play!!
Thankfully, Mer came over to look after us for a little while.
Top off my pregnancy sickness with the stomach flu and call me straight miserable!

March 18, Jer finally gets me out of the house!
After a full week on the couch, not even going outside, Jer took us to Windwolves preserve for a little walk. The fresh air did feel good. I have to make sure I eat something every single hour... even when I'm gagging on the cracker I'm trying to get down, having something in my stomach helps.

"Ivy's 30 minute nap"

Visiting dad at work.

Fun at the park.

March 23, Cousins come to visit!
It was Lexie's turn to come up and look after me!! She's pregnant and sick too, but 7 weeks ahead of me with another baby boy! I'm moving slow, but it was good to get out of the house. My fitbit keeps telling me to move, but I haven't got more than 2,000 steps a day... so yeah, when I say I really haven't left the house/couch, I have proof haha

-Feeding ducks at the zoo-

A little cousin bath time!

CHEEEEESE! Check out that sweet underbite!

Exploring Murray Family Farms.

March 28, A play date with old friends!
I'm slowly starting to feel better. The past 3 weeks have been awful with feeling sick and gross. Now I just have bouts of nausea throughout the day but have also been taking Diglegis 4X a day and gulping Cokacola to power through.

March 29, more cousins come to play!!!
Nick had a meeting here in Bako, and brought the whole fam since it was Spring break.
It was a whirlwind of a visit, just 1 short night and then they were off to Disneyland for 4 days.
We did arts and crafts, played at the park, went out to eat and everyone SMOTHERED Ivy. It was great!

March 30th and April 1st. Conference and Easter weekend!
Lexie had bought Ivy an Easter basket and I'm so glad she did because I wasn't really going to do anything, but Ivy picked up on the Easter celebrations so nicely!
It was a great weekend in!

April 2nd, a successful doctors visit and an announcement at 11 weeks!
"We found an extra egg at our Easter Hunt"

I took Ivy on an outing to the Library. She wasn't super interested in the books, just running and exploring... she's a little Hudini for sure!

New PJ's and Tea time!
April 5
We made Buckingham Palace Scones (recipe from Aunt Val in England) in preparation for me hosting book club. Ivy and I tested them out and had a little tea party with my childhood porcelain set. She was so careful with the cups and loved pretending to drink!

Ivy has been looooving shows lately... uh oh! I let her watch about 30 minutes of nursery rhymes or Elmo's world a day and she eats it all up!
I've taught her all the actions to the Itsy Bitsy spider and it basically melts my heart to the floor!

April 6
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus comes to Bakersfield.
Had an awesome girls night with these hooligans at a rock concert! We stayed out late, ate nachos and met the band!

Pictured below is the band Rivals. they were cool, so we hung out with the after!

Miriam also seemed to make friends with all the bouncers haha

You know it was a good night when your lipstick stays on and you have to hop the fence to get home!

April 8
Road Trip!!
Jer had a job at the Marriott in San Diego, me Ivy and I tagged along so we could see Lexie!

Quality Costco cousin time!

April 10
Indoor Sky Diving!
Merilyn got us tickets to do this a while ago and we took full advantage!!
I was pretty nervous at first, but it was a great time and fun experience.
Would I go real sky diving now you ask? Still a hard NO!

Paddleboarding the Carlsbad Lagoon!

April 11
We stopped in at the California Science Museum, in LA on our way back up to Bakersfield, it was pretty cool. Ivy especially enjoyed seeing the FSSHHHHH.

Friday, April 13th.
Spending all that time together sure made it hard for Jer to go to work. Ivy would run up to him crying and hug on his neck so tight so he wouldn't leave!!!! Pretty dang cute!

"Oh, just cooling off over here!"

I got Ivy some cute foam magnets and she really likes them. They're really educational with helping her to identify objects and connect the words to the shape! WIN!

So between learning, living, dance parties and my growing belly things are going well. Jer has been busy at work (which is a good thing), I've FINALLY been feeling better (now 13 weeks), and our flowers have blossomed in the garden. All smiles around here!
